Anti Ragging Policy

Introduction

Ragging is strictly prohibited in the institution. Any act of physical or mental abuse, including bullying and harassment, will be dealt with firmly under the guidelines of the UGC and relevant authorities.

Definition of Ragging

Ragging includes any conduct that:

  • Causes physical or psychological harm
  • Creates fear, shame, or embarrassment
  • Disrupts academic activities
  • Involves coercion or undue influence

Preventive Measures

  • Display of anti-ragging posters across the campus
  • Conducting awareness programs and workshops
  • Setting up an Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad
  • Monitoring of sensitive areas within the campus

Reporting Mechanism

  • Students can report incidents anonymously via email or helpline.
  • A dedicated committee will handle complaints with confidentiality.
  • Immediate action will be taken based on investigations.

Disciplinary Actions

  • Warning and counseling for minor offenses
  • Suspension or expulsion for severe cases
  • Legal action in compliance with national laws

Administration Action in the Event of Ragging Ragging is a crime. Do not tolerate ragging. Report at once to the authorities for strict action. Strong legal action will be taken against the guilty by the Principal of the College, Registrar of the University, and the Police.

According to UGC guidelines, the University/Institution can take action against a student and punish if found guilty of ragging after following the procedure and in the manner prescribed below:

The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision regarding punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and the nature and gravity of the incident, as established in the recommendations of the Anti-Ragging Squad.

The Anti-Ragging Committee may, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, award one or more of the following punishments to those found guilty:

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process.
  • Withholding results.
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national, or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  • Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel.
  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from one to four semesters.
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.

Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.

Conclusion The institution upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. All students are urged to maintain a respectful and safe academic environment.
